2月号― Punとダジャレ

                           本題(ダジャレ文)
本題の見方---ダジャレ文の中の青色文字は英語の意味、赤色文字は語呂合わせの部分で、かなりなまったり方言ぽくなる場合があります。また、ダジャレ文は語呂合わせの為の文言で、意味の正当性、日本文としての正確性は有りません事ご周知下さい。
 英単語に添えられた丸数字は難易度レベルで、詳しくは2012.8/27号をご参照ください。(⑦~⑫は書物には頻出。⑳以上も新聞等には時折出現する。)

或るPunを含む面白い英文に出会いました。

     Yesterday is  memory. Tomorrow is mystery Present is present(from God).
            (カッコ部分は私が加筆したもの)

presentの二つの意味を掛けて(使って)一つの文章にしたpunですが、このように、二つの意味を
持つ単語を、別々の意味で使って一つの文章を作る事、これを英語のダジャレすなわちpunと言います。英単語には同じスペルで複数の意味を持つ単語が沢山有るのでいろいろなpunが出来ます。(ウェブサイトにいろいろありますので興味ある方は"pun"を検索されたし)
 一方、日本語のダジャレは、発音が似ていて意味が異なる部分を使って(このブログがまさにこれで、punとは異なる)、語呂合わせする事で、オジンギャグと揶揄されるのはご存知の通りです。
 punを作るのは単語力が要り、英語の勉強になるかもしれません。punではありませんが、下段のような日本語風ダジャレを作って、ネイティブに見せたら結構笑ってくれました。皆さまもいろいろ作って、コメントしてください。ここで公表させて頂き、いっしょに笑いませう。

               ―私の作ったダジャレ英文(punに非ず)―
He's struggling with cleaning away the ivy straggling over the fence.
They glean green leaves with glee because of greediness.
Peaple must elect a president to erect a country.
He sports his sports car, not to be the sport of his class.
He is an authority of  an anthology.(スペルは似ているが発音はだいぶ違うか。)
I don't want to toil in a toilet.
She whines being  not served wines.
